Ricky's Advice

The first time I learned to truly see someone as the whole and complete being they are was when I met my friend and telepathic pen-pal, Ricky.

Ricky is nonverbal, wheelchair bound, his body and mind age differently, and he has limited mobility throughout his body.

And… he smiles more than almost anyone I’ve met.

Years ago, Ricky showed me I could communicate with him telepathically and gave me insight into who he is beyond his condition. He has become a guiding light in my life, a little human angel, a telepathic pen-pal bestie, as he often “stops by” in my meditations to say hello, soak up good energy, or offer advice.

One of the most amazing things about him is how free he is, despite the significant limitations of his body. He doesn’t live in the same reality I do, or that most people I know do. He understands the power of his mind and his connection to God/Source/All that is, and he taught me one of the most important lessons of my career as an energy worker.

See everyone in their wellness, even if their body gives you every reason not to.

It’s interesting, I didn’t grow up religious, but the topic of religion has been coming up around me a lot lately. I talk often with people about Jesus and how he was a master at seeing others in their wellness. He showed us how powerful that is, yet we still struggle to see it, even when it’s right in front of us.

Someone needs this reminder today.

Ricky loves animals, I think that’s why we get along so well. He relates to their unwavering love for their families, their ability to see the good in everyone, and the beauty of being. Ricky remembers what most of us have forgotten— how strong our souls desire was to come into our bodies, able or not. “I really wanted this life” he always says, and he reminds me on days when I’m losing sight of what really matters.

It doesn’t mean you ignore what’s happening in the body or stop doing what helps. It means you hold an unwavering awareness that within every body is a soul born of love that is always well. A soul you can turn your attention toward each day, ask to see more clearly, and receive more evidence of.

One of his favorite things to look at is a sun catcher - all the colors of the rainbow, and he is every single one of them.

Life has a beautiful way of bringing people (and animals) into our paths who remind us how beautiful it is to exist.
