Do we owe it to our animals to lay their bodies to rest in the ground?
Animals remind me of their place in the circle of life,
That they signed up for the full experience.
Born from a beast that is sustained by Mother Earth,
Leaving - returning to Earth,
As a final act of thanks.
Do we steal that opportunity from them when we cremate them and carry their bodies with us?
Animals understand why their guardians would want to keep what was left of their physical presence close, a way to honor and cherish how much they are loved, a way to hold on just a little longer.
But your animals ask you to consider -
They loved and cared for the land they lived on, and she loved them back.
They belong to one another, your animal and their home.
They had an agreement with Earth, you see.
Giving them back to Earth is a final act of thanks,
For all that they are, all that they were.
Their mark in the world.
Mother Earth, houses supports and sustains life.
She is the reason souls can come and experience what they do.
She doesn’t ask much in return, but she does request to hold her children.
Her medicine is born through their homecoming.
It’s not letting them go. It’s setting them free.
