Do Animals Born to the Industry Know Their Value?

Sometimes I think about animals in slaughter houses or a similar experience,

Destined to live a life in service to humanity through giving theirs.

I wonder if they know the value of who they are.

I think about the concept of one being consuming another,

And hear a whispered request,

That with each meal the ‘higher’ being thanks who and not it  for the gift of life,

And the sustenance to keep it going.

Maybe one day, learning from the animals, and not taking more than they need.

I take comfort knowing most of these animals know nothing to compare their experience to,

So they wait, and eat… at least together.

I wonder if they know they bring humans together in the same way,

Waiting, eating.

I wonder if they know the value of who they are,

Because just being who they are,

Provides sustenance and life to millions they will never know.

But they can…know you, and they should.

Energetically, through love, through gratitude.

And so goes the circle of life,

A little better than it was before,

When we give thanks to the being who is in front of us,

Acknowledging the value of who they are.

Gratitude is a frequency that can cut through pain like an arrow. It’s free, and it can float through time and space reaching those far and wide with just thought alone.
